A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a trained community volunteer who is appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interest of an abused or neglected child or sibiling group of children in family court proceedings. The CASA Volunteer gathers information regarding the child’s case, and then attends court proceedings and speaks on behalf of that child. The Advocate makes a recommendation to the judge so that the judge has the information to make a decision about the child’s future. The CASA Volunteer advocates for the child to be placed in a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.

CASA of CGS is affiliated with both the National CASA Association and CASA of NJ. Each year in New Jersey, some 9,000 children enter the foster care system
due to abuse and neglect. More than 800 of these vulnerable children come from Cumberland, Gloucester, & Salem Counties.
Our Mission:
Every abused and neglected child in Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties deserves a safe, permanent, and nurturing home. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Vicinage XV ensures that a court-empowered, independent volunteer is able to voice timely and objective recommendations on behalf of the child.
Our ONLY interest is the child's best interest!

not only our own children, but other people's as well—
including children we will never meet,
who grow up in situations we'd prefer to ignore."
